One of my life goals--accomplished!!! After trying to read this darn book 3 times as a younger man, this time I made it. It took the help of Wikipedia, Cliff Notes, and my college roommate with an MA in English, but I got through it. Even reread most of the first 2 sections to try to pull it together.
My advice to anyone reading Faulkner, particularly THIS Faulkner: rely on the Cliff Notes--don't try to decipher it by yourself. It clearly would take several readings to fully grasp what's going on.
Having said all that, I must say it's an amazing work; deeply interwoven stream-of-consciousness tales of the distorted lives of the characters. So now you're warned!
