Here are a few pictures from our Western Journey last month. We have a lot more, since it's impossible not to take a lot in the beautiful places we visited. Above we're in the foothills in Boulder, which is in a lovely setting on the edge of the prairie and at the foot of the mountains.

Below, we went for a hike up in Rocky Mountain National Park. That's Jeff and Sarah. It was spectacular mountain scenery at 10,000 feet.

Here's the Grand Canyon from the eastern end of the park. I'll skip the superlatives--they are insufficient.
The high point for us was two day-hikes down into the canyon. Below is the Bright Angel trail, which we went partway down our first day. It was quite different being in a National Park with school in session--very few families or teenagers. The majority of the hikers were from other countries, especially Germany and the Netherlands.
The second day we went partly down the South Kaibab trail, which is even more spectacular.
Below is in the Red Rock country around Sedona. A bit of a come-down after the Grand Canyon, but spectacular anyway.

No pictures, but lots of memories from our Elderhostel experience with Grandma in Vermont. Four days of Puccini opera, and dinner with Danny and Suzanne.
